The café is supplied with fresh produce from the charity’s bakery in HMP Northumberland, where our trained bakers allow prisoners to learn new skills and find a new direction on release.

LNER Film on Cafe 16 at Newcastle Cathedral
About two years ago, our team were painting and cleaning the kitchen of our Cafe 16 in Newcastle Cathedral in preparation for opening. We couldn’t have done it without the very generous support of LNER’s customer and community investment fund. They recently visited and interviewed Fiona, Caroline and Mickey and shared how through employment and training, Cafe 16 inside Newcastle Cathedral is changing lives.
