Powerful conversations at Leicester University this week.
Some of our team had the privilege of speaking to a large group of young people at a magistrate-run event, sharing real experiences of life inside prison. The questions came thick and fast – from the reality of prison food to the challenge of maintaining family relationships while incarcerated.
It was heartening to see the genuine curiosity and engagement from the students. They wanted to understand the human side of imprisonment – the daily realities that rarely make headlines but profoundly shape someone’s experiances in the system.
This kind of open dialogue is at the heart of our changing perceptions work at the Oswin Project. When we break down barriers and create space for honest conversation, we are able challenge assumptions and build understanding.
Thank you to Leicester University and the magistrates for creating this important space for learning. Change happens one conversation at a time
