On Thursday 26th March our CEO attended a reception at 10 Downing street for Employment Advisory Board Chairs , kindly hosted by The Secretary of state for Justice ( David Lammy MP) and the prisons minister ( Lord Timpson). Fiona is chair at HMP Northumberland . Since James Timpson had the idea to introduce EABs to prisons employment for six months on leaving prison has risen from 15% to 38%. The next target is to reach 50%. Fiona said ‘it was a wonderfully positive event. Everyone who attended must have felt appreciated and encouraged. It was also a great opportunity to see friends , forge new connections and discuss how to address the challenges we face in our prisons’.
